I wonder what percentage of passengers is genuinely afraid of flying. If I had to guess, I'd say 10% of the airplane is made up of nervous flyers. I included a few links to some resources in the post that may help people overcome their fear.

Hi Kent,

Regarding resources: I'm both an airline captain and a licensed therapist who has specialized in fear of flying since 1980 with the original fear of flying course at Pan Am.

The help now available is quite advanced and we are able to help people who could not be helped a few years ago.

There is a free video on the cause and cure at http://www.fearofflying.com/video_hs.shtml

I'm happen to answer questions emailed to me at tom@fearofflying.com
